Feral Pigeons(Columba Livia)

 

 

 

Features

 

  • About 32cm in length

  • Found in flocks

  • Feeds on seeds and domestic scraps

  • Roosts/nest on ledges, inside old buildings and warehouses etc

  • Often lays 2 eggs

  • Eggs are incubated for 17-19 days

  • Chicks will stay in nest around 35-37 days

  • Pigeons carry a disease called 'Ornithosis',  which can be transmitted to people via contact or inhaling infected droppings
